Footprinting

Footprinting is a type of botnet attack designed to get a better understanding of the composition, configuration, and security of the application.  Footprinting attempts to identify the URL paths, values and parameters, and processes to uncover various entry points within the application.  It can also include brute force attacks and dictionary, as well as guessing of file and directory names.
